Lois and Dinny quickly fall in love and Harvey is left to return to his wife.

Another fire breaks out in Lois's apartment, and this time one of Harvey's associates Dinny (Will Mackenzie) rescues Lois while Harvey saves a cat. Koogleman however is too preoccupied with her own relationship problems to help Harvey with his conundrum. After secretly dating her several times, Harvey decides he must solve his moral dilemma by consulting his psychiatrist Mrs. Harvey steals a kiss from her as he resuscitates her and the two quickly fall in love. Just as he dreamt it, he rescues a young model named Lois (Patricia Harty). Harvey loves his life but after a fight with his wife over dinner one night he imagines himself rescuing a beautiful young girl from a fire. Because of his creativity, tenacity and heart, Hugh Robertson will forever be a role model and inspiration to editors in the African American community and to the post-production community-at-large.Harvey Middleman (Eugene Troobnick), a New York City fireman, lives happily in a New Jersey suburb with his wife (Arlene Golonka) and two small children. He spent most of the rest of his life in Trinidad, until his death in 1988 in Los Angeles, CA.

He continued to produce and direct films and television series in Trinidad, notably вЂњBimвЂќ and вЂњFires of Hope.вЂќ In 1982, he was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame. In 1973, he moved, along with his wife and two children, to Trinidad and Tobago to provide the training and technical assistance needed to bring the film industry to the island. With hope and conviction, he shared a new perspective on the African American community through his films and television shows. He was a pacesetter and a trailblazer who understood the richness of our creativity and the power of our work. Hugh Robertson would always go out of his way to share editing and directorial techniques with anyone who wanted them.

He appreciated HughвЂ™s craftsmanship and artistry.В In 1971, he collaborated with famed photographer Gordon Parks on вЂњShaft.вЂќ His other film and television credits include вЂњAndy,вЂќ the вЂњFranklin Delano RooseveltвЂќ series (ABC), вЂњRun AwayвЂќ (Yale University) and вЂњCrime StoryвЂќ (NBC).ДЇollowing his pioneering career as an editor, he went on to direct feature films, such as вЂњObeahвЂќ and вЂњMelinda,вЂќ which was Jim KellyвЂ™s debut, and television series, including вЂњRoll-Out,вЂќ вЂњLove American Style,вЂќ and вЂњGreat American Dream Machine Show.вЂќ In 1970, he was nominated for an Emmy for вЂњAnd Beautiful II.вЂќ After Voight saw the movie, he sent Hugh a personal thank you note. вЂњMidnight CowboyвЂќВ was Jon VoightвЂ™s first major role. His Oscar nomination distinguished him as the first African American to be nominated for an Oscar in Film Editing. He was an associate editor on вЂњThe Miracle Worker,вЂќ directed by Arthur Penn, who later directed вЂњBonnie and Clyde.вЂќ He then went on to edit вЂњHarvey Middleman, Fireman.вЂќ Released in 1969, вЂњMidnight CowboyвЂќ garnered him an Oscar nomination and a win at the BAFTA awards, both in 1970. He broke through the characteristic exclusivity of the film industry. Over the span of his career, highlighted by many вЂњfirstsвЂќ and вЂњonlys,вЂќ Hugh showed perseverance and courage. In 1960, eleven years after applying, he became the first black person to hold membership in IATSE Motion Picture Editors Union, Local #771. After World War II, he went on to study at the Sorbonne in Paris, and then in New York, he worked with Elia Kazan at the Negro ActorвЂ™s Guild. Hugh continued to hone his craft as a member of the US Army Signal Corps. As a teenager, he worked a summer job as a can-carrier at Seabord Studios, and that job lead to an editing apprenticeship under Carl Lerner, who recognized HughвЂ™s interest and potential. That year was the same year вЂњGrand HotelвЂќ won the Oscar for Best Picture.

Robertson (1932-1988) was an acclaimed picture editor and director, known for iconic films such as вЂњMidnight CowboyвЂќ and вЂњShaft.вЂќ He was born in 1932 to Jamaican immigrant parents, as the elder of two sons.
